Pakistan vs Bangladesh Betting Tips: Form Guide

Pakistan Smarting After Indian Defeats

Pakistan have not been at their best in the Asia Cup so far. They reached the Super Four stage of the competition thanks to an uninspiring win over Hong Kong. In their other game in the group stage of the tournament, they were beaten by old rivals India. In that game, Pakistan were bowled out for just 162 of 43.1 overs. India reached that total with ease in 29 overs, losing just two wickets.

In the Super Four stage of the competition, Pakistan beat Afghanistan in their opening game. The Afghans reached a total of 257/6 from 50 overs. Pakistan reached that total with three balls remaining of their 50 overs. In their next game of the Super Four, Pakistan faced India once again, and they lost to them for the second time in the tournament. Pakistan batted first, as they had in the group stage clash, and reached 237/7 from 50 overs. The Indians reached that total in 39.3 overs, having lost just one wicket.

Those results strongly suggest that Pakistan have problems facing teams of genuine international quality right now, which could spell problems for them against a rapidly improving Bangladesh team.

Bangladesh Have Been Inconsistent

Bangladesh have had a decidedly mixed Asia Cup campaign so far. In their opening group game, they were worthy winners over Sri Lanka. In that opening match, the Bangladeshis scored 261 all out from 49.3 overs. They then destroyed the Sri Lankan batting line-up, bowling the opposition out for just 124, from 35.2 overs. Mustafizur Rahman produced a great bowling performance, returning figures of 2/20 from just six overs. Mehidy Hasan and skipper Mashrafe Mortaza also took two wickets each.

The second group game, against Afghanistan, did not go so well, though. A spirited Afghanistan side scored 255/7, batting first. Bangladesh got nowhere near that tally when they batted, and were bowled out for just 119 from 42.1 overs.

In the Super Four stage of the competition, Bangladesh faced India in their first game. The Indians had no trouble turning them over. Bangladesh were bowled out for just 173 from 49.1 overs, with india reaching that total in 36.2 overs. Bangladesh faced Afghanistan next in the Super Four, and achieved revenge for that first round defeat. They reached 249/7 in their 50 overs, before restricting the Afghans to 246/7. That is the kind of performance they will need against Pakistan

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Preview: Recent Meetings

The last time these two sides met in a 50-over One Day International was in 2017. The match, played in England at Edgbaston, was a warm-up for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, and was won by Pakistan. The contest was all about the batting, with the Bangladeshis reaching a total of 341/9 from their 50 overs. Pakistan responded by scoring 342/8 from 49.3 overs, with Shoaib Malik making 72 from 66 balls.

Prior that one-off meeting, the two teams played in a three-match ODI series in 2015. Bangladesh hosted the series, and won all three matches. In the first game, they scored 329/6 from 50 overs, with Pakistan responding with just 250 off 45.2 overs. The home team won the second game of the series by seven wickets, with 71 balls remaining, after they batted second. The third match was also won by Bangladesh, who triumphed by eight wickets.

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Prediction: Narrow Bangladesh Win

If you are looking for Pakistan vs Bangladesh betting tips for today, then our prediction is that Bangladesh will win the game narrowly. Pakistan might be stinging from those two defeats to India, and will want to reach the final to exert a measure of revenge on their old rivals, but their chances are not good. Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka in fine style in the group stage, showing that they know how to beat more established international sides. Pakistan also look low in confidence.
