Burnley vs Fulham Betting Tips: Form Guide

Clarets Beginning to Find Form

Sean Dyche’s Burnley team have been improving in recent weeks, and will be looking for their third successive Premier League victory this weekend. They will certainly feel that history is on their side, as the Lancashire outfit have not lost in their last 29 league games against the Cottagers. Their last defeat to the west London side came in April 1951, when they lost 2-0 in the old First Division. Burnley’s New Zealand striker Chris Wood will also be eyeing this game with relish. The forward has scored three goals in five games against Fulham in his career. He is also building some form, having scored in his last two Premier League games.

Burnley have lost 13 league games so far this season, too big a tally from a team that managed to qualify for Europe last season. They head into this game on the back of a victory in the FA Cup third round last weekend against Championship side Barnsley. A solitary goal from Chris Wood was enough to secure victory, with the Kiwi slotting home a penalty in injury time at the end of the second half.

Cottagers Still Struggling To Rebuild

Fulham are in deep trouble when it comes the prospect of being relegated from the Premier League in their first season back in the top flight since 2013/14. They have won just three league games this season, which is nowhere near enough for a team who wants to stay in the top flight. They have scored an average of 0.9 goals per match, but, far more worryingly, they have conceded an average of 2.24 per match, a real indication of where the team’s problems lie. They have also not yet won an away game, and this will be their 12 attempt to try and secure three points on the road. This game will also be another attempt to try and win against a side sitting higher than 17th in the table. All of Fulham’s three wins have been against teams who were in the relegation zone. Burnley are currently in 16th place.

Serbian striker Aleksander Mitrovic will be a key man for the Cottagers. He has eight goals and two assists to his name in his 21 Premier League games this season, and the Cottagers will need him to be at his best on Saturday if they are to win.

Burnley vs Fulham Preview: Recent Meetings

These two sides have met just three times in the Premier League, with Fulham winning twice and there being one draw. Both of Fulham’s victories have come at Craven Cottage, and the solitary Premier League encounter at Turf Moor has been drawn. Two of those Premier League meetings were back in the 2009/10 season. Since then, the teams have also faced each other in the Championship in the 2015/16 season. Burnley won both of the league games that season.

The Clarets and Cottagers also faced off on one previous occasion during this season. The first Premier League encounter between them in 2018/19 came at Craven Cottage in August last year. Fulham won the game 4-2, with Aleksander Mitrovic scoring twice. The other goals came from Jean Michael Seri and Andre Schurrle. Jeff Hendrick and James Tarkowski were Burnley’s goal scorers that day.

Burnley vs Fulham Prediction: Hard Fought Draw

If you’re looking for Burnley vs Fulham betting tips for today, then our prediction for this game is that it will end 1-1. We expect it to be a tense encounter, with both teams well aware of how important this game might be to how their season turns out. In many ways, it is a six-pointer of a game, with the victor being able to do some damage to one of their rivals in the race to avoid relegation. That situation means that neither team will want to lose, and fear of failure may prevail over the desire to seal victory.
