Celta Vigo
Real Valladolid

Celta Vigo, riding a decent start to the season and a solid transfer window, meet recently-promoted Real Valladolid at the Abanca-Balaidos this weekend in a game that looks all set for a comfortable home win. This weekend’s visitors haven’t won a single game this season. Part of the reason for that, and the Celta Vigo vs Real Valladolid betting tips leaning so heavily in the home team’s direction, is the fact that through four games of La Liga action, Valladolid have yet to score this season.

Given Valladolid’s attacking limitations, it makes sense to back the hosts to win this game with home advantage. Indeed, the fact that they are rated as long as 3/4 by Dafabet makes Celta great value to win this meeting. Given his influence on the Celta side and his status as a regular in the Spanish national team, it’s also worth backing Iago Aspas to score the game’s first goal. He’s 9/2 with BetBright, and considering that Valladolid probably just won’t score, those seem like perhaps the Celta Vigo vs Real Valladolid best odds of the afternoon. For those looking to find a longer-odds punt, you can get 11/1 with Toals on the hosts winning 3-0; as long as they can score early, that’s worth a look.

Celta Vigo vs Real Valladolid Betting Tips: Form Guide

Celta Seek To Improve On Last Season

Finishing 13th, as Celta did last campaign, is one of those things that more or less hides you from view in the eyes of fans. They weren’t ever really under threat of being relegated, but they never looked like they would matter in any positive sense, either. Everything interesting happened around them, rather than to them. At the start of this season, though, they sit third in La Liga (an admittedly very crowded table with only Barcelona and Real Madrid having won even three of their first four matches; three points separate third place and sixteenth, for reference). More importantly, within those opening four games, they have a win over a real title contender.

Celta picked up three points with a surprise 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid – Max Gomez opening the scoring in the first minute of the second half before Iago Aspas added a second on 52 minutes – and have also seen off Levante (2-1) as well as picking up a point at Espanyol on the season’s opening day. They were in fact unbeaten until the start of this week, when they travelled to Girona and were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline. Former Middlesbrough striker Christian Stuani scored twice for the hosts, while Aspas’ 34th-minute goal and a late consolation from Sofiane Boufal were not enough to keep Celta’s impressive record going.

As Celta Vigo vs Real Valladolid match previews will note, the hosts come into this match without defender Gustavo Cabral. The Argentinian centre-back was sent off for a second bookable offence at Girona and will be serving a suspension here. Having said that, considering the three goals they coughed up against a relatively weak side, maybe that’s for the best.

Valladolid Not Troubling The Scorers

Without having scored any goals at this point in the season, Valladolid have managed to pick up two points. Which may not sound like much, but at the moment it’s five points outside the Champions League spots, so there is that. However, if they want to keep picking up points and not be drawn into a relegation battle, they are going to need to trouble the opposing keeper sooner rather than later. As things stand, all that their supporters have to cheer is the final whistle bringing another goalless draw. The travelling Valladolid fans have been the lucky ones, getting to watch their heroes share no goals with Girona and Getafe.

On home ground the record is, at present, two games played and two lost. Two goals conceded and, of course, none scored. The home games have been tougher than their away assignments, granted, and a 1-0 defeat against Barcelona is better than most teams will do against that opposition this season. The question is this: how long can they go on without scoring before it becomes a serious problem? Despite a defence that is performing admirably to this point, playing with a single striker is going to make wins hard to come by if that striker is an honest, but limited, trier such as Enes Unal.

While it may seem harsh to base all our Celta Vigo vs Real Valladolid betting tips on the visitors being unable to score a goal, that’s how things are set to continue until the La Liga new boys can find a way to make their playing style more expansive. That doesn’t look like it’s about to happen any time soon.

Burnley vs Bournemouth Preview: Recent Meetings

These sides met most recently at the end of last season, Burnley having already secured a Europa League spot and Bournemouth so mid-table they would have been forgiven for going on holiday early and missing this one. However, they did show up and, after Chris Wood had fired the hosts into a 1-0 lead, they rallied in the second half. Josh King cracked home an equaliser with 15 minutes to play and, three minutes into time added on, substitutes Jermaine Defoe and Callum Wilson combined for the latter to score the winner.

Earlier in the season, at the end of November 2017, Wood again opened the scoring. On that occasion, though, Burnley added to their lead through Robbie Brady, on 5 minutes. King did pull one back for the hosts, but it was to be Dyche’s men who picked up the away win that day.

Celta Vigo vs Real Valladolid Prediction: One-Sided Home Win

It’s safe to presume that Valladolid will eventually score this season. It might not be any time soon, but at some stage during 2018/19 they will get a ball in a net somewhere in Spain. Up to now, they really haven’t looked much like they’re about to do it, and that’s a major influence on our Celta Vigo vs Real Valladolid prediction in this game. Celta have been mostly solid this season – a disappointing loss at Girona notwithstanding – and with the ever-present goal threat of Lopez and Iago Aspas playing up front for them, they’re always going to present a threat. Particularly so, when playing against a team that simply cannot attack.

Our prediction, then, is that the hosts will win this one, by a decent margin of two or three goals to nil. They have home advantage, better players, are in better form and are more attuned to the pace of La Liga football. This doesn’t feel like a tough one to call, in any way. Celta Vigo to pick up three more points, Real Valladolid to remain scoreless.
