Chelsea
Wolverhampton Wanderers

Chelsea welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to west London on Sunday afternoon, with Maurizio Sarri’s team looking for third consecutive Premier League victory. While Chelsea are looking to continue their recent good form and climb back into the top four, Wolves will be looking for a second consecutive league win after their victory over Cardiff City last week. It should be an entertaining game for the Sky Sports TV viewers.

Chelsea vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Betting Tips: Form Guide

Blues Bouncing Back

Chelsea seem to have recovered well from their controversial League Cup final defeat to Manchester City. Despite losing that game on penalties, and the debacle of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga refusing to be substituted, Chelsea have bounced back with league wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham. Manager Maurizio Sarri has stated this week that he thinks the determined performance at Wembley against City planted the seeds for the team’s subsequent progress. The Blues will certainly feel much more confident as a group than they did a month ago, when poor results were beginning to pile up.

Much of the talk surrounding Chelsea this week has been about youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi. While many Chelsea fans would appear to want to the 18-year-old in the team, Sarri has stated that he does not want the young Englishman to be put under too much pressure at this stae of his career. Hudson-Odoi came off the bench in the midweek Europa League win over Dynamo Kiev, and scored his team’s third goal in a 3-0 win. It will be interesting to see if Sarri selects him on Sunday.

Wolves Looking To Bite Blues

Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves team are looking for their second consecutive league win after beating Cardiff City 2-0 at Molineux last weekend.  That result represented a return to form, after two away games from which the West Midlands side took just one point. They drew 1-1 at Bournemouth, before losing 1-0 away at Huddersfield Town. That defeat in West Yorkshire will have been particularly painful, given that the Terriers are rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

Wolves, of course, have already beaten Chelsea once this season, and could be the first newly promoted team to do a league double over the Blues for 18 years. They should also take confidence from their record against the current top six sides this season. They have won nine points against those sides, more than any of the other 13 Premier League teams in 2018/19. They have avoided defeat away at Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, an indication that they can follow a gameplan and have a good team spirit. Chelsea should not expect to find it easy on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview: Recent Meetings

These two sides have met nine times in total in the Premier League, though, until this season, they had not met in the English top tier since the 2011/12 season. Out of those nine matchhes, Chelsea have won seven, Wolves two and there have been no draws. Chelsea have won all four of their home Premier League games against Wolves, scoring 14 goals and conceding just two.

The last league meeting between the clubs was at Molineux earlier this season, on December 5 last year. Wolves won the game 2-1, fighting back from going an early goal down. Second-half goals from Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota cancelled out Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s 18th minute strike for Chelsea. Morgan Gibbs-White and Matt Doherty provided the assists for the two Wolves goals, while Eden Harzard weighed in with an assist on Chelsea’s solitary strike.

Chelsea vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Prediction: Narrow Home Win

If you’re looking for Chelsea vs Wolverhampton Wanderers betting tips for today, our prediction for this game is that the home side will enjoy a relatively comfortable 2-1 win. We suspect that Wolves will feel confident going into the game, after their victory last weekend and also their victory over Chelsea at Molineux earlier in the season. It should be noted, though, that Wolves’ record at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League era is poor, and they have conceded plenty of goals on their trips to face the Blues in west London. Chelsea are also looking to get back into the Champions League places in the table, and that will provide some powerful motivation for them to win this game.
