Germany vs Peru - Free Betting Tips

Germany
Peru

Germany continue their attempt to rebuild their standing after a terrible World Cup showing, with an intriguing friendly clash in Sinsheim against fellow first-round evictees Peru. There is no doubt who enters the game as favourites, and all the Germany vs Peru betting tips you’re likely to read will be more about how comfortably Germany can expect to win. Nonetheless, Peru were a thorny opponent for the likes of Denmark and France back in the summer, and they won’t roll over and let their hosts win this game.

Germany are such heavy favourites for this game there’s no point backing them to win it. Instead, look for value in the markets other than outright winners – which include Germany to lead at half time – a very useful 4/6 with Ladbrokes. Backing the first goalscorer may be tricky – with scope to experiment, Joachim Low may well not pick a full-strength team. Get on Leverkusen striker Julian Brandt to score first; at 23 he’s earmarked for future stardom and is handy in front of goal. You’ll get 11/2 at Unibet for him to break the deadlock. For a correct score bet, you’re best looking at this as a convincing, but not thumping win for Germany. Take them to win 3-1, which is 10/1 with Betway and well worth a punt.

Germany vs Peru Betting Tips: Form Guide

Germany Face The Future

There’s no getting around the shambles that was Germany’s World Cup. They became the third consecutive World Champion to exit at the group stage of their defence of the trophy, and but for a late Toni Kroos strike against Sweden (2-1), they’d have bowed out without winning a single game. As it was, they lost 1-0 to Mexico – a bad result which wasn’t as disastrous as it was painted – and 2-0 to South Korea, which was every bit as disastrous, and eliminated them from the competition.

There was no real indication that Germany were about to have such a shocking tournament. They eased into the competition with a few friendlies, winning the last (against Saudi Arabia) by a narrow 2-1 margin. Not a superb result, perhaps, but pretty much what you’d expect from a pre-tournament fine-tuning exercise. Disappintingly, RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner’s goal against the Saudis was the only one he would score all summer, and the former World Champions’ inability to create chances for him was their undoing in Russia.

In general, Germany vs Peru match previews will look at the recent Nations League fixture with France to see where Germany are mentally right now. A 0-0 draw with few moments of note, it may not have been a classic, but there will be confidence among the German side that they managed to keep the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann tightly shackled. A small step in the right direction, perhaps, but still a long way to go if they’re to be tagged as favourites for Euro 2020.

Peru Pose A Challenge For Bigger Teams

Peru’s presence at the World Cup was a curio for football fans – a team last recognised worldwide in the 1970s, with the side qualifying ahead of more fancied nations like Chile and Ecuador. Once there, they were eliminated within the first two games, beaten by France and Denmark, leaving them with a consolation game against Australia, who had suffered the same fate. That final group game did see the Peruvian side record a win at a World Cup finals, though, as goals from Andre Carrillo and Paulo Guerrero fired them to a 2-0 triumph over the Socceroos.

The other outcome of Peru’s appearance at a World Cup is that it has left them in demand as a friendly opponent for teams across Europe. Hence their trip to the home of Hoffenheim to face the German national team, and the midweek meeting they had with the Netherlands. The Dutch, conspicuous by their absence from the World Cup, began their latest rebuilding project with a win, but not before Peru had taken a 13th-minute lead through Pedro Aquino. The home side hit back in the second half with two goals from Lyon’s Memphis Depay, but it was another decent showing from the Peruvian players.

One thing that has stymied a shot at a better performance is the absence of Peru’s most noted modern-day player, Guerrero. An appeal against a doping ban saw him allowed to play at the World Cup, but the ban is now definitively in place and, in the absence of their star player, the visitors can only be underdogs in Germany vs Peru betting tips for today.

Germany vs Peru Preview: Recent Meetings

This is, surprisingly, the first time these countries have ever met at senior international level. We could go into all the many times that each has played against teams from the other’s confederation – Germany have twice won World Cup finals against Argentina, while Peru faced two European nations at the 2018 World Cup, losing both.

There is also the fact that Peru have played in Germany before – in the 1936 Olympic Games. They won 7-3 against Finland in their first ever Olympic match, reaching the quarter-finals where they knocked out the fancied Austrian side 4-2 after extra time. Drawn to face Poland in the semi-finals, the Peruvian side were horrified to learn that Austria had disputed the result of their game, claiming that Peruvian fans had invaded the pitch during the game. Although there was no way of proving the identity of the pitch invaders, the complaint was upheld and the teams ordered to replay the match behind closed doors. Peru withdrew from the Olympics in protest, and no Peruvian football team has participated in the Games since.

Germany vs Peru Prediction: Comfortable Home Win

German national coach Joachim Low has been clear this week that the German national team owes it to their supporters to be better than they were in Russia. While a 0-0 draw against France is better than most of what they achieved at the World Cup, they need to be better still in order to help fans begin to forget the utter mess that unfolded in the summer. Here, against a team with plenty of endeavour and no lack of ability, but who crucially aren’t the best team in the world, that improvement needs to continue and result in a win for Low’s men.

Our Germany vs Peru prediction is that they will get that win – by no means a thrashing, but enough of a margin to make a statement. With a visit to the Netherlands scheduled for next month in the Nations League, die Nationalelf needs to regain the identity which has won them World Cups in the past, one as recently as 2014. That means not losing or drawing against anything but the top tier in world football. Peru, with all the goodwill in the world, are not among the top tier. The outcome here will be a win for Germany, by one or two goals.
