Livingston

Heart of Midlothian are the early season pace setters in the Scottish Premiership, and the unbeaten Jambos welcome in-form Livingston to Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon. Hearts boss Craig Levein believes the spirit in his side matches that of the famous 1986 squad, so he clearly feels his team is capable of great things this season. Fans in Edinburgh should be in store for a entertaining and interesting game.

Hearts vs Livingston Betting Tips: Form Guide

In-Form Hearts Aiming For Glory

Hearts manager Craig Levein has been in confident mood this week, telling the Scottish media that the spirit in his camp at the moment reminds him of the 1985/86 season. Levein was a player  back then, and that season saw the Jambos challenging for the title. How they failed to win the title on the last day of the season in 1986 has passed into Scottish football folklore. Levein has stated that his current squad is full of hungry and ambitious players. Of course, it is early days in the season yet, and talk of a title challenge may well be premature. The Jambos have, though, started the season in fine form.

The Edinburgh side sit at the top of the Scottish Premiership, having won all five of their league games so far this season. That fine form meant that Levein won the Manager of the Month award for the Scottish Premiership for August.

Last time out, the Jambos won 1-0 away at Motherwell. In-from striker Steven Naismith, recently recalled to the Scotland squad, scored the game’s only goal. He is a player worth watching this weekend.

Livi Looking Up

Since Gary Holt replaced Kenny Miller as manager at Almondvale, things have started to look up for Livingston. The West Lothian club has started to climb the table, and has won its last three games. Livi are unbeaten in four league games, a run that started with a 0-0 draw at home to Kilmarnock on August 11. The run since Holt took over has been remarkable, with the club winning 2-0 away at St Mirren, 2-1 at home to Hibernian, and 1-0 at home to Hamilton Academical. That is the first time that Livi have won three consecutive top flight matches since August 2002.

A strong team ethic has been put in place by Holt, and it is paying dividends. Livi have kept six clean sheets in 10 games in all competitions in 2018/19, which is a real testament to the team’s hard work and organisation.

History is not on Livi’s side, though, when it comes to playing against Hearts. The last time the two teams were in the same division was in 2014/15, and the Jambos won all four games in the league that season. Livi have not won a game at Tynecastle since the 2001/02 season.

Hearts vs Livingston Preview: Recent Meetings

These two sides last played each other in a league match in the 2014/15 season, when Hearts were in the Scottish Championship. The two sides met four times during that campaign, with Hearts winning on all four occasions. The Jambos would, of course, go on to win promotion from the Championship to the Scottish top flight that season.

The first game was Tynecastle in September 2014, with the Jambos running away with it, and beating Livi 5-0. There were fewer goals in the second game, in December, when Hearts won 1-0 away at Almondvale. Two games were then played on consecutive weekends in February, 2015. Hearts won the first of those games, at Almondvale, 4-2, with Brad McKay being sent off for the Jambos. The final clash of the season, a week later at Tynecastle, was won 1-0 by Hearts, with Jamie Walker scoring the only goal of the game.

Hearts vs Livingston Prediction: Narrow Home Win

If you’re looking for Hearts vs Livingston Betting Tips for today, we think that the home side will win this game. It may be close, with Livingston looking hard to break down in recent games. Hearts will have to work hard to create opportunities to score.

A final scoreline of 2-1 to the home side looks likely. Livingston may well score first, and early in the game. Steven Naismith made a goal-scoring return to the Scotland team recently, and he is a player to keep an eye. We suspect that he may well end up on the scoresheet again on Saturday.
