Hertha Berlin vs Borussia Mönchengladbach - Free Betting Tips

Hertha BSC
Borussia Mönchengladbach

It’s fourth place against fifth in the Bundesliga this weekend, as Hertha Berlin welcome Borussia Mönchengladbach to the Olympiastadion. Both teams remain unbeaten after the first three league games of the season. Borussia have history on their side, though, having won eight of their last nine Bundesliga meetings with the Berlin outfit. Some pundits see Gladbach as potential title winners in the Bundesliga this season, so this should be an interesting game.

Hertha Berlin vs Borussia Mönchengladbach Betting Tips: Form Guide

Hertha Looking To Stay Unbeaten

Pal Dardai’s Hertha are unbeaten in all three of their Bundesliga matches so far this season, just like their opponents on Saturday. Last weekend, they drew 2-2 with Wolfsburg. Javairo Dilrosun opened the scoring for the Berlin outfit at the Volkswagen Arena, but the Dutchman may have to settle for a place on the subs’ bench this weekend. Maximilian Mittelstädt’s recovery from a muscular injury means that he may well replace Dilrosun in the Hertha midfield. Former German U-21 international Davie Selke may also get more game time this weekend, after coming on as a late substitute last week. Selke has now recovered from the collapsed lung he suffered recently. Fabian Lustenberger is likely to feature in the Hertha defence, as Jordan Torunarigha suffered an Achilles tendon injury against Wolfsburg.

Prior to the draw with Wolfsburg, Hertha won their opening two Bundesliga games of the season. They beat Nurnberg at home 1-0 on the opening day of the campaign, thanks to a 27th minute goal from Vedad Ibisevic. The following week, they won 2-0 away at Schalke. Ondrej Duda scored both goals, including one from a free kick. Gladbach will need to keep an eye on him.

Gladbach Have History On Their Side At Hertha

Dieter Hecking’s Gladbach team are also unbeaten in their first three Bundesliga games in 2018/19. They have a very similar record to Hertha, having won two matches and drawn one. They are a place below the Berlin outfit on goal difference, so will be looking to climb above Hertha with a win this weekend.

One Borussia player to keep an eye on is Thorgan Hazard, Eden’s little brother. The Belgian is yet to score during this campaign, but his record against Hertha is impressive. He has found the net six times in eight games against the Berlin club, which is more goals than he has scored against any other professional club during his career.

There is some uncertainty over who will partner Hazard in attack for Gladbach this weekend, though. Raffael is available once again, after sitting out the 2-1 win over Schalke with injury. The Brazilian is a former Hertha player, having scored 39 goals in 163 appearances in all competitions for them between 2007 and 2012. Patrick Herrmann is also a possibility, especially after coming off the bench to score against Schalke last weekend.

Gladbach should feel confident, as they have won eight of their last nine games against Hertha.

Hertha Berlin vs Borussia Mönchengladbach Preview: Recent Meetings

These two sides played against each other on two occasions in last season’s Bundesliga competition. The first meeting was at the Olympiastadion in Berlin in November, 2017. This match was a six-goal thriller, with Gladbach winning 4-2 in the end. Lars Stindl opened the scoring for Borussia in the fifth minute, with Thorgan Hazard adding second from the penalty spot in the 14th minute. Raffael added a third in just the 20th minute, before Hertha decided to fight back. Vedad Ibisevic scored for the home side in the 28th minute, and Mitchell-Elijah Weiser pulled another back in the 71st minute, before Raffael killed the game off with his second goal in the 78th minute.

Hazard was on the scoresheet again in the second game, at Borussia Park in April. He hit two goals, one from the penalty spot, in the 75th and 79th minutes, to win the game after Hertha scored in the first half.

Hertha Berlin vs Borussia Mönchengladbach Prediction: Exciting Score Draw

If you are looking for Hertha Berlin vs Borussia Mönchengladbach betting tips for today then our prediction is that this game will end in a 1-1 draw. Backing Thorgan Hazard to score looks like being a good bet too, as his record against Hertha is outstanding. Hertha’s Ondrej Duda is another man worth keeping an eye on, as he has scored three goals already this season. Significantly, two of those goals have come from free kicks, which is something worth noting if you are fond of placing live bets during the game.
