Sirenia Stakes Betting Tips: Class-Dropping Konchek Can Collect at Kempton Park

Betting.org experts provided punters with their 2018 Sirenia Stakes betting tips from Kempton Park racecourse. Konchek is eased in grade and the highest rated in the line-up, so looks the one to be on in this Group 3 contest over 6f on the all-weather. Quiet Endeavour is an improving type for in-form connections, so is feared most in this juvenile event on Saturday, 8 September. Junius Brutus, meanwhile, could be the each-way angle for this race. Top-rated Konchek can score overdue success in Sirenia Stakes

Clive Cox trained colt Konchek has been hitting the crossbar at Group 2 level of late, so connections look to have found him a nice opportunity to resume winning ways by easing him in grade. He sets a clear standard in five-runner 6f juvenile Group 3 Sirenia Stakes at Kempton Park on Saturday (16:25).

After winning on debut in a Newmarket maiden, Konchek was beaten just half-a-length in third by Vintage Brut in the Listed 5f National Stakes at Sandown. The son of Lethal Force was then upgraded to the first of three Group 2s and a two-length fifth to US raider Shang Shang Shang in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The third home that day, Land Force, would later confirm the form with Konchek when they met again in the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Cox’s charge turned the tables on Vintage Brut, however, and then put in a career best when chasing home the impressive Martyn Meade juvenile Advertise in the July Stakes at Newmarket.

As the winner has come out and since landed the valuable Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh, the form has a solid look to it. Konchek nabbed second late on and was beaten just two lengths in what is his career best to date.

Having then finished a 1 1/2 lengths fourth behind Land Force off his current mark of 106, which is the highest here, these runs are by far the best form in the context of his lower grade affair. Off level weights and, with him 5lb and upwards clear on ratings, Konchek looks a solid bet to gain an overdue success, so he heads our 2018 Sirenia Stakes betting tips.

Quiet Endeavour improving and most likely challenger

The only worry with Konchek is that he might be vulnerable to a progressive type, and Archie Watson has one of those in the Ontoawinner syndicate owned Quiet Endeavour, who is pitched into group company for the first time here after four consecutive wins. This son of Society Rock is bred to be a sprinter and improving with each outing, so is feared most.

Quiet Endeavour is four from five over the trip and scored over course and distance in a nursery handicap last time out. He also clearly loves running on artificial surfaces, with a 100 per cent record in three runs on the all-weather.

It’s also worth bearing in mind the form of Quiet Endeavour’s debut run when fifth over 5f at Beverley. The runner-up Vange bolted up by seven lengths next time out, while the third home Moojim was a neck second to Ginger Nut in the valuable Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury.

That, coupled with several subsequent wins for Quiet Endeavour himself, gives the form a solid look and, now regular rider Ed Greatrex is back in the saddle, a bold bid looks assured. Finding 5lb on ratings with Konchek is far from insurmountable and the prospect of a five-timer cannot be discounted.

Junius Brutus an alternative to consider

Another danger comes in the form of the Ralph Beckett trained French import Junius Brutus – a son of Cockney Rebel bought by King Power Racing and sent to join his yard from Matthieu Palussiere’s stable. After winning his first two starts at the minimum trip across the Channel, he was a creditable 3 1/2 lengths sixth to Soldier’s Call in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Making the jump straight away from 5f to 7f looked a little hasty on the part of connections as, although his breeding suggests he’ll stay that trip and further in time, Junius Brutus was a well-beaten 15 1/2 lengths 10th to Dark Vision in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on his penultimate outing.

Dropping down in distance to the 6f of this was a smarter move, however, as he scored in a conditions contest at Ripon last time when produced to lead at the two marker, before being driven out for a more decisive victory than the winning margin of 1 1/2 lengths. This obviously demands more, but on his Royal Ascot form Junius Brutus has absolutely nothing to fear from the re-opposing Kessaar despite a ratings difference of just 1lb.

He is on a higher mark than that rival, running off 99 here. There looks to be even more to come from Junius Brutus at this distance as he’s the least exposed at it in the line-up and therefore rates an each-way alternative for punters to consider among our 2018 Sirenia Stakes betting tips.
