Kilmarnock vs Celtic - Free Betting Tips

Kilmarnock
Celtic

Kilmarnock welcome Celtic to Rugby Park on Sunday lunch time, looking to take three points off the Scottish Premiership champions. The Bhoys played in the Europa League in midweek, so Killie will be hoping that their continental adventures have left the visitors a little heavy legged. Celtic need points to give their domestic season a boost, with Heart of Midlothian setting the early season pace and topping the table.

If you have been reading the Kilmarnock vs Celtic match previews in the media this week, and you’re thinking about placing a few bets, start at William Hill. There, you can back both teams to score, with no draw, at odds of 15/8. For something slightly riskier, you can back Celtic to win 2-0 at odds of 5/1 at Paddy Power. That result matches our prediction. For a long odds option with potentially big returns, backing Killie to win is probably a good option. Ladbrokes are offering odds of 7/1 for a Killie win on the 1X2 market.

Kilmarnock vs Celtic Betting Tips: Form Guide

Killie’s Refereeing Crusade

Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke has hit out at the referees in Scottish football this week, claiming that poor decisions have shaped the outcome of 60 percent of his team’s fixtures this season. In a month or so, Clarke faces an SFA hearing for comments about officiating he made earlier in the season, so this has clearly become something of a bugbear for him. Nevertheless, he has also insisted that he is not on a “crusade” against referees.

Killie have won two of their five Scottish Premiership matches so far in 2018/19. They have lost games against both Edinburgh teams. Hearts beat Killie 1-0 in late August at Rugby Park. Last weekend, Clarke’s team travelled to Leith to face Hibernian at Easter Road, and were beaten 3-2. They were also knocked out of the League Cup recently by Rangers, who beat them 3-1 at Ibrox in the second round of the competition.

Killie may have to do without defender Stuart Findlay for this game, as he has not trained all week. Scott Boyd is also a doubt, as he has been suffering with a virus, while Greg Taylor is another doubt to face Celtic, having suffered a knock.

Celtic Want To Put Pressure On Hearts

Celtic were held to a goalless draw in their last Premiership game, last Friday evening at St Mirren. Midfielder Olivier Ntcham was sent off in that game after receiving two yellow cards, and he is suspended for the trip to Kilmarnock. Defender Kristoffer Ajer could also miss out, after missing the midweek Europa League win over Rosenborg with a virus.

Celtic overcame Rosenborg 1-0 in their opening Europa League group game at Celtic Park on Thursday evening. Leigh Griffths struck a late goal to clinch the game for the Hoops, after coming on as a second-half substitute. Griffiths has not been a regular starter this season, and there appears to be some tension between him and Hoops gaffer Brendan Rodgers. It will be interesting to see if Griffiths starts the game on Sunday, or is left on the bench again by his manager.

Intriguingly, especially for a team that has been so dominant in recent seasons, Celtic’s five Premiership matches have seen just seven goals in total. The Hoops have scored five and conceded just two. Supporters would surely like to see them score more goals, and start to put some real pressure on table-topping Hearts.

Kilmarnock vs Celtic Preview: Recent Meetings

Kilmarnock have a very poor recent record against Celtic in all competitions. The Ayrshiremen have won just one of their last 18 matches against the Hoops, a victory which came in the league last season, when they won 1-0 at Rugby Park back in February. They have drawn four and lost 13 of those last 18 games against Celtic. Killie can take some heart, though, from the fact that Celtic have not managed to beat the Ayrshire team in their last three league matches. That is Celtic’s longest run without a win against any team in the Scottish Premiership.

The two sides faced each other on five occasions last season in all competitions. Celtic won the second round League Cup tie between the teams 5-0. In the league games, Killie won one at Rugby Park, Celtic won one at Rugby Park, and both games at Celtic Park ended in draws.

Kilmarnock vs Celtic Prediction: Comfortable Away Win

Given Kilmarnock’s poor overall record against the Celts, this is likely to be prove to be a tough game for the home side at Rugby Park on Sunday. Even though the Bhoys have been involved in European football on Thursday, they still have enough depth in their squad to make sure that the starting line-up is fresh and ready to play. If you’re looking for Kilmarnock vs Celtic betting tips for today, then our prediction is that Celtic will win the game 2-0.
