Leicester City
Huddersfield Town

Leicester City will see this weekend’s game as the ideal chance to get back in form after a surprisingly bad showing at Bournemouth last weekend. They face a limited but hard-working Terriers side at the King Power stadium, and even if the Leicester City vs Huddersfield Town betting tips all favour the hosts, Foxes fans will remember that they threw away a lot of points at home last season, and didn’t win a single game in Leicester against the teams who ended up relegated from the Premier League.

A game at home against a side without a win to their name this season? That’s surely the ideal time to get back among the goals for a striker who hasn’t bagged since the opening day, and Jamie Vardy is Evens to score at any time with William Hill. Those are odds worth taking. Better yet, you can back Leicester to win, and both teams to score, at odds of 12/5 with BetBright. Given Leicester’s disorganised defence will have to undergo another reshuffle with Wes Morgan suspended, those might be the Leicester City vs Huddersfield Town best odds of the day. Finally, look at Betway for a correct score bet. They’ve got 15/2 on the hosts winning 2-1, which sounds about right for the form these sides are in right now.

Leicester City vs Huddersfield Town Betting Tips: Form Guide

Foxes Not Cunning Enough Against The Top Half

Within the first four games, Leicester won the ones they were fancied to win, and lost the ones against bigger sides. They will therefore have travelled in hope to the South Coast to face Bournemouth, and will have been horrified to find themselves 3-0 behind at half time. A messy defensive performance saw Harry Maguire fortunate to stay on the pitch after a string of careless challenges, and Wes Morgan not so lucky. City could have scored, before Ryan Fraser put the hosts ahead. By the time James Maddison actually did score, his side were 4-0 behind, and the clock was already almost up. A second goal, from Marc Albrighton, gave Leicester a flattering scoreline they ill deserved.

Claude Puel will be close to the end of his tether trying to figure out just what he has on his hands with this Leicester side. Losing 2-1 at Old Trafford on the opening night, the Foxes looked the better side for much of the contest, while they offered a commanding performance in their first home game, beating Wolves 2-0 even though Vardy’s dismissal reduced them to ten men for the second half. Having trailed at Southampton, meanwhile, they showed they could hit back, Demarai Gray grabbing an equaliser and Maguire striking the winner. A 2-1 loss at home to Liverpool? Well, they were never really at the races that day, but better teams will experience that against the Reds.

So which is the real Leicester City? The one which comfortably shook off an increasingly impressive Wolves side with little difficulty, or the one that was lucky to only lose 4-2 at Bournemouth? This weekend will tell us a lot. There’s a reason Leicester City vs Huddersfield Town betting tips for today heavily favour the hosts. We’ll come to that in a moment.

Terriers Show Little Bite

Huddersfield’s survival in the Premier League last season came as a surprise to many. Although they had started their stint in the top-flight with a few impressive wins, they settled into a long routine of heavy defeats, and looked completely out of place against not only the cream of the crop, but even in games against the likes of West Ham and Stoke. This season? Well, they haven’t started with any impressive wins, so there’s a difference right there.

In fairness to Huddersfield, they started the season with a home game against Chelsea and then a visit to Manchester City; no-one expected them to get anything from those games. That said, there are different ways to lose, and being horsed 3-0 at home (Chelsea) is not a great one. Losing 6-1, even after your goalkeeper has performed heroics to keep you in the game for half an hour, as they did at the Etihad, was worse. Huddersfield followed up those losses with their first league point, but it came in a 0-0 home draw with Cardiff; not the kind of result any Premier League team will celebrate. The next game saw them improve, and even lead at Everton – a 1-1 draw, as it turned out, was far from a bad showing.

Last time out, though, Huddersfield lost at home to Crystal Palace by a score of 1-0. That means they’ve played three at home, and picked up a single point and no goals. At least they’re away here, and they’ve kept their goalscoring exploits for their travels. However, as Leicester City vs Huddersfield Town match previews will point out, they’ve conceded seven in two games away from home.

Leicester City vs Huddersfield Town Preview: Recent Meetings

With Huddersfield’s promotion in 2017, these clubs were slated to meet again for the first time since Leicester’s own ascent in 2014. Their first encounter came in September, five games into the season and just before Craig Shakespeare was sacked as City manager. A dominant Huddersfield took the lead early in the second half as Laurent Depoitre ran onto a Sabiri through-ball and slotted past Kasper Schmeichel. Leicester hit back within five minutes, a Vardy penalty giving them what even Foxes fans would admit was a point they had no right to win.

At the King Power Stadium on New Year’s Day, it was Huddersfield in the midst of poor form and City having a revival. This time, the hosts won 3-0 through goals from Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani and, in time added on, Albrighton. The former two players are now plying their trade away from Leicester; how will that affect today’s game?

Leicester City vs Huddersfield Town Prediction: Narrow Home Win

In terms of squad quality, there really is little comparison between these sides. Leicester may not be the unit that won the league in 2016 – without Mahrez and NGolo Kante they’re barely a shadow of it – but they have the players and the ability to win games against most of the Premier League. However, they don’t always pull out the performance you’d expect. As noted, when they visited Huddersfield last season, they were played off the pitch despite their greater resources. So while we can look at the league standings and assume the home side will win this in a canter, recent history teaches us not to be so hasty.

We do think Leicester will win this game, but it will not be the 4-0 or 5-0 that it could easily be when you put Vardy, Maddison and Gray up against a defence as rickety as the Terriers’. It’s more likely to be a narrower win than that, and our Leicester City vs Huddersfield Town prediction is a 2-1 home win, in which the hosts go 2-0 ahead perhaps even by the end of the first half, but then find themselves hanging on for the win near the end. That’s the way Leicester do things.
