Liverpool
Brighton and Hove Albion

Liverpool welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Anfield on Saturday for what looks set to be an interesting game. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have begun the season well, while Chris Hughton’s Seagulls took the scalp of Manchester United last weekend. If Liverpool are serious about winning the title this year, then they really need to win games like this. Brighton should be relishing the prospect of another upset.

Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion Betting Tips: Form Guide

Reds Ready To Dig In And Graft

Liverpool have begun the 2018/19 campaign in some style, having won their first two Premier League matches of the season. On the opening day, the Reds welcomed West Ham United to Anfield, and battered the London side 4-0. Mohamed Salah continued his goalscoring feats from last season with another strike, and Sadio Mane bagged a brace. Daniel Sturridge also got on the scoresheet, after being away on loan for much of last season. The Reds followed that victory up with a 2-0 victory away at Crystal Palace on Monday earlier this week. James Milner scored one goal from the penalty spot, with Mane adding a second.

Those results will undoubtedly have given the Reds confidence, and Milner has admitted that the team won despite not being at their best. Milner saw the manner of the victory, where the Reds had to graft to grind out a vital away win, as a really positive thing for Klopp’s team, viewing it as a sign of the team’s growing maturity to be able to win games without playing well.

The Reds will need to be careful against Brighton, who beat Manchester United last week, and so will approach the game with little fear.

Seagulls Look To Build Consistency

Chris Hughton’s Brighton team has enjoyed a good start to the 2018/19 Premier League season. Although they lost their first game 2-0 away at Watford, they bounced back in some style last week, beating Manchester United 3-2 at the Amex Stadium. The manner of the victory was impressive too, with the Seagulls racing into a 3-1 lead by half-time. Paul Pogba’s penalty in injury time at the end of the game was just a consolation effort for the Red Devils. Glenn Murray and Shane Duffy opened the scoring for Brighton, netting in the 25th and 27th minutes respectively. Pascal Gross added a 33rd minute penalty to complete the Seagulls’ scoring. To nullify United’s much vaunted attacking line-up in the second half of the game is something of which Hughton will be justifiably proud.

The challenge now for Hughton and his team is to reach those standards of performance every week. If they do that, then they should have no problem staying in the Premier League this season. Consistency is always what coaches crave, so the emphasis now for the players has to be on replicating that level of performance at Anfield on Saturday.

Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion Preview: Recent Meetings

These two sides played each other on two occasions last season, both in the Premier League. Those two games were the first league meetings between the teams since 1982, although they had played each other on several occasions in the intervening period in cup competitions. The first game was at the Amex Stadium in December, and saw Liverpool come away from the south coast with an emphatic 5-1 win. Glenn Murray netted Brighton’s only goal from the penalty spot. Liverpool’s scorers were Emre Can, Roberto Firminho with two, Philippe Coutinho and a Lewsi Dunk own goal.

The second game was at Anfield on the last day of the 2017/18 Premier League season. Liverpoll won the game 4-0, with the goals coming from Mo Salah, Dejan Lovran, Dominic Solanke and Scotland international left back Andy Robertson.

Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion Prediction: Comfortable Home Win

The Seagulls will be in confident mood ahead of this game, after beating Manchester United earlier this week. Playing at Anfield, though, is vastly different to playing in the home comforts of the Amex Stadium.

If you’re looking for Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion betting tips for today, then the prediction is that Liverpool will win fairly comfortably in the end. The Reds will need patience, as Brighton are likely to start well, so the Reds will need to get a grip on the game early if they want to win. Two second-half goals should seal the victory, though.
