Peterborough United
Blackpool

Blackpool travel to Cambridgeshire on Saturday, still on a high after knocking Championship club Queens Park Rangers out of the League Cup earlier this week. Their hosts, Peterborough United, did not play in midweek, but won at Gillingham in the leaguer last weekend. Both teams will therefore feel that they have generated some useful momentum ahead of what should be an interesting League One encounter.

Peterborough United vs Blackpool Betting Tips: Form Guide

Posh Want To Keep On Pushing

Peterborough manager Steve Evans will be looking for his team to build on their 4-2 victory away at Gillingham in League One last weekend. That win came at a good time, as the Posh had been beaten 2-1 at home by Portsmouth the week before. Prior that reverse, though, United had been in good form. They had been unbeaten in six League One games, winning five and drawing one of them. They have also been in good goalscoring form this season, netting 24 times in their nine league games so far in 2018/19. They have conceded 11, though, which suggests that they need to tighten up a little at the back if they want to sustain their push for promotion.

Evans will be delighted that his side have lost just once in the league, though, this season. To already have 22 points in the bag at this stage of the league campaign is no small achievement. It is important that the Posh sustain that form, though, and do not rest on their laurels. Blackpool have also been building some good form in recent weeks, after a mixed start to the season.

Blackpool Building Momentum

Terry McPhillips’ Blackpool team currently sit in eighth place in the League One table, having taken 14 points from their nine games so far this season. That start is far from disastrous, though McPhillips must have been frustrated at times with his team’s seeming inability to build consistency. The Tangerines have tended to follow up victories with draws or defeats so far in the 2018/19 campaign, and they must put together a decent winning run if they want to be considered among the challengers for promotion this season.

They Tangerines received a massive boost in midweek, though. McPhillips’ team knocked Championshi side Queens Park Rangers out of the League Cup, beating the Londoners 2-0 at Bloomfield Road. Frenchman Armand Gnanduillet opened the scoring for the Lancashire side in the 28th minute. Captain Jay Spearing rifled home a stunning second in the dying moments of the game.  The Tangerines are now unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions. Last weekend, they drew 0-0 at home to Luton Town in the league. Prior to that, they had recorded two league victories, away at Plymouth Argyle and at home to Bradford City, and won on penalties against Macclesfield Town in the League Cup.
