Rangers
Dundee

Things do not get any easier for Dundee in the Scottish Premiership, as Neil McCann’s Dark Blues travel to Glasgow to face Steven Gerrard’s Rangers team. Dundee are yet to collect a single point from their four Scottish Premiership games so far in 2018/19. Rangers, for their part,  will be hurting and keen to put things right, after losing to fierce rivals Glasgow in their last league game.

Rangers vs Dundee Betting Tips: Form Guide

Rangers Want To Recover From Celtic Defeat

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will surely be relatively pleased with the way that he has begin his reign at Ibrox. The Gers have picked up a modest total of five points from their four league games so far in 2018/19, but they have lost only one game. They have also reached the group stages of the Europa League, the importance of which should not be underestimated, especially for the club’s supporters, who crave some kind of European glory for their team.

The major blip in that early season run was, of course, the 1-0 defeat to Celtic in the last game before the international break. In truth, that scoreline did not reflect Celtic’s dominance of the game at Parkhead, with Rangers’ Scotland goalkeeper Allan McGregor being called on time and time again to keep the Light Blues in the match. The Bhoys also hit the crossbar three times, so the result could have been a lot worse for Gerrard and his team.

So there is still work to be done for the Gers, and Gerrard will be seeking a convincing victory over the Scottish Premiership’s bottom-placed team in Govan on Saturday.

Dundee In A Dark Place

Neil McCann’s Dundee team currently sits at the very bottom of the Scottish Premiership, havin failed to collect any points at all in the 2018/19 campaign. Even St Mirren, who are possibly the weakest side in the division currently, have managed to beat Dundee, winning 2-1 in Paisley on the opening day of the Premiership campaign. Since the opening day, the Dark Blues have been beaten 1-0 at home to Aberdeen, have lost 1-0 to St Johnstone in Perth, and lost 3-1 to Motherwell at home. To add to their pain, they have also been beaten by Scottish Championship side Ayr United in the Scottish League Cup, meaning that they exited the competition in the last 16.

McCann could be handed a boost for the game at Ibrox with star midfielder Glenn Kamara looking like he will be fit for the game. The Finnish player has been struggling with an ankle problem that saw him miss the loss to Motherwell. He was kept in Scotland rather than travelling to join the Finland squad for their Nations League matches. If he is fit, McCann will surely feel more optimistic, despite his side’s poor pedigree at Ibrox.

Rangers vs Dundee Preview: Recent Meetings

These two teams played each other on three occasions in the Scottish Premiership last season. The first clash was at Ibrox in September, 2017. The Gers ran out convincing winners that day, thanks to an emphatic 4-1 scoreline in their favour. Alfredo Morelos scored twice that day, with the Light Blues’ other goals coming from Josh Windass and Carlos Pena. The second match was in November, 2017, at Dundee’s Dens Park ground. The home side won 2-1, with both their goals being scored by Mark O’Hara, who netted in the 66th and 80th minutes of the game. Josh Windass scored the Gers’ goal. In the third and final league meeting, at Ibrox on April 7, 2018, Rangers won 4-0. Kenny Miller opened the scoring six minutes before half-time, with further goals being added by Alfredo Morelos, Jamie Murphy and Daniel Candeias, who all scored in the last quarter of the game.

Rangers vs Dundee Prediction: Comfortable Home Win

If you are looking for Rangers vs Dundee betting tips for today, it would probably be a wise move not to back Dundee to do anything in this game. McCann’s side are yet to pick up a league point in this campaign, and have even lost to St Mirren, who are possibly the weakest team in the Premiership at this moment in time. Rangers are not quite where they want to be yet, in terms of being ready to properly rival Celtic again, but they are still a level or two above where Dundee currently are. Our prediction is that this will be pretty much a walkover for the Light Blues, and we expect a 3-0 win for Rangers in front of their passionate fans at Ibrox on Sunday.
