Hull FC vs Castleford Tigers - Free Betting Tips

Castleford Tigers make the journey to East Yorkshire this Friday night to face Hull FC, with the hosts in terrible form. Cas, meanwhile, are revving up to claim a place in the semi-finals, and then do what they couldn’t do last year, which was win at Old Trafford in the Grand Final. We should be in for a good game of rugby league on Friday night in front of the Sky cameras.

At Ladbrokes, you can find a long odds option which looks tempting, in the form of a price of 18/1 on Luke Gale to score the game’s first try.

Hull FC vs Castleford Tigers Betting Tips: Form Guide
Airlie Birds Have Clipped Wings
Hull FC is a club in something of a crisis at the moment. Lee Radford’s team have not won in seven Super League games, and have conceded over 70 points twice in that run, which also includes a derby defeat to Hull Kingston Rovers. Their last game was an 80-10 defeat at Warrington Wolves. That was a staggering scoreline, given that the Wire had played at Wembley in the Challenge Cup final against Catalans Dragons, and lost, just four days earlier.
Coach Lee Radford was clearly furious after the game, and he revealed that club owner Adam Pearson had said some harsh words to certain players at half-time. Pearson went on to state in an interview that players were going to be shipped out the club after recent poor performances. That is a massive change for a club that not long ago was publically asserting that it was happy with its squad, and would not be undertaking any serious recruitment.
The players have therefore been told in no uncertain terms that there can be no more embarrassing defeats. If players do not respond and shape up, then the club really is in a bad place right now.
Tigers Finding Form
Daryl Powell’s Castleford Tigers have not been as consistently brilliant as last season, but only a fool would write them off when it comes to reaching, and possibly winning, the Grand Final. Last time out, Cas were boosted by the return to action of Luke Gale. The England scrum-half has been out since Easter thanks to a broken kneecap. He made a solid return against the Dragons, kicking six goals in his team’s 36-4 victory over the Challenge Cup winners. Ben Roberts also returned to the line-up after being out since late May with hamstring and knee problems.
That victory over the Catalans was the Tigers’ second of the Super Eights campaign. They lost narrowly to Wigan Warriors in their first game after the split, getting beaten 24-22 at the DW Stadium. They have followed that up with victories over fourth-placed Warrington Wolves, though, as well as the win over the Dragons. They beat the Wire 28-18, a result which contrasts massively with the way Hull FC were beaten 80-10 by the Wolves last week. That result is worth noting, if you are looking for Hull FC vs Castleford Tigers betting tips for today.

Hull FC vs Castleford Tigers Preview: Recent Meetings
These two teams have met twice in 2018, both times in Super League. Each team has won one game. The first clash was at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, back in late February. Cas won the game 28-18. The Tigers came back from 8-0 down, with skipper Michael Shenton bagging a brace of tries, despite playing in an unfamiliar role on the wing. Cas stand-off Jamie Ellis was Man of the Match, playing a role in three of the five Tigers tries.
The second meeting was at Hull’s KCOM Stadium in May. This time, it was Hull who triumphed at home, winning 36-12. Sika Manu and Bureta Faraimo both scored two tries, while Marc Sneyd kicked two goals and Jake Connor Four. Cas clearly missed Luke Gale in this game, struggling to adjust to life without their influential playmaker.
Hull FC vs Castleford Tigers Prediction: Comfortable Away Win
Given the state of Hull FC at the moment, it is hard to know what team Lee Radford will select, let alone how they will perform. No wins in seven games is a really poor record for a team of Hull’s stature, and the pressure is surely massive on the players now. Castleford, in contrast, are finding some form at just the right time of the season, and will be feeling confident that they can go to Hull and win well.
The prediction is therefore that the game will be a comfortable win for Cas. A good bet would be on a margin of between 10 and 20 points. Luke Gale could also be a man to watch, especially when it comes to kicking goals.
