Hull KR vs London Broncos Betting Tips: Form Guide

Robins Still Not Safe

Hull KR are far from comfortable in terms of retaining their Super League status for next season, but they have gone a long way towards being safe. They have taken six points from their four games in the Qualifiers so far, with their only defeat having been the home loss to Salford Red Devils in the opening week of the Super Eights. Since then, Tim Sheens and his Robins have gone away to win important games at Toronto Wolfpack and Leeds Rhinos. They also overcame Halifax at KCOM Craven Park last weekend, though the 38-24 scoreline shows that they made somewhat heavy weather of beating the Championship part-timers. In truth, Rovers had the game won by half-time, and relaxed too much in the second half. Sheens will not want to see a repeat of that against a dangerous London team on Saturday in east Hull.

Rovers will be without Adam Quinlan, whose season was ended by injury against Fax. Who steps into the important fullback role will be interesting to see. Justin Carney will also be missing, as his career is now over, as he was also injured against Fax, and had announced he was to retire at season’s end.

Broncos Still Bucking In Battle For Super League

Danny Ward’s London Broncos team have acquitted themselves well in the Qualifiers so far. They overcame Super League opposition in their first game after the split, beating Widnes Vikings 21-20 at the Halton Stadium. That result really showed that the Broncos were capable of reaching Super League, if they could sustain their performance levels. Since then, they have lost at home to Leeds and away to Toronto. Last week, though, they bounced back from those defeats with a 34-8 victory at Ealing over Toulouse Olympique. Beating the strong French outfit sent out another strong message to the rest of the teams in the Qualifiers that the Broncos are a team to be wary of.

Hull KR offer a different level of challenge to either Toulouse or Widnes, though. The Robins boosted their squad ahead of the Qualifiers, and they certainly have more quality in depth, at least on paper, than the Broncos do. Making a good start to the game will be crucial for the Broncos. That way, they can exert some pressure on the Robins, and turn the noisy home ground against their team.

Hull KR vs London Broncos Preview: Recent Meetings

The last time these two sides met was in the Qualifiers last season, when Hull KR were successfully battling to regain their Super League status after a season in the Championship. They also played each other twice in the Championship in the regular season. The first match was played at London’s Trailfinders stadium, on February 12. The Robins emerged as victors, with the final scoreline being 28-22 in their favour.

The second game was on July 2 at KCOM Craven Park. Again, it was the Rovers who emerged as victors, with the final score this time being 40-22 in the East Yorkshire side’s favour. The third and final encounter last season was in the Qualifiers, in August at KCOM Craven Park. Rovers powered into an early lead, but had to withstand a second-half London fight-back to triumph 35-30 in the end.

Hull KR vs London Broncos Prediction: Comfortable Home Win

If you’re looking for Hull KR vs London Broncos betting tips for today, then it would be wise, in our view at Betting.org, to back the Robins to win. Rovers have shown throughout the Tim Sheens era that they know how to win games when the pressure is on. While this game is not perhaps quite in the ‘must win’ category, a victory would go a long way towards Rovers retaining their Super League status for 2019. The Broncos did well in the equivalent Qualifiers match at KCOM Craven Park last year, but Rovers still had too much for them. Our prediction is that Rovers will win by 10 points.
