West Brom vs Norwich Betting Tips: Form Guide

Baggies Bouncing Towards Premier League Return

This could be an emotional afternoon for the Baggies and their fans, as it is a year to the day since the passing of Albion great Cyrille Regis. The Hawthorns could also be close to a sell-out, as the fans flock to see Darren Moore’s side push for a return to the Premier League. WBA are unbeaten in their last six home league matches, but they have won just two of those, drawing the rest. They head into this game on the back of an FA Cup third round win over fellow Championship side Wigan Athletic. That win will have come as something of a relief, as the Baggies had failed to win in their previous two league games. After drawing at home to Sheffield Wednesday, Albion were beaten 2-1 at Blackburn Rovers in their last league game.

Moore might be able to call on Dwight Gayle and Ahmed Hegazi to reinforce his ranks this weekend, as both players are back in training after recovering from hamstring injuries. Scotland internationals Matt Phillips and James Morrison could also be recalled, along with Gareth Barry, after being rested recently. Midfielder Jake Livermore is serving the second game of a four-match ban.

Canaries Flying High

The Canaries head into this game on the back of a 1-0 defeat at home to League One side Portsmouth. While Daniel Farke might not be too disappointed to be out of the Cup, he will have been more concerned about the recent league defeat at home to Derby County, and the two draws with Nottingham Forest at home and Brentford away. City have not won for four games in all competitions, and that needs to change if they are serious about sealing a Premier League return this season.

Recent history provides some encouragement for City fans. On both of their last trips to face Albion at the Hawthorns, Norwich have won without conceding a goal. Those games were in December 2013 and March 2016, when they won 2-0 and 1-0 respectively.

The Canaries will have to do without skipper and Scotland international Grant Hanley, who is suspended after being sent off in the defeat to Portsmouth last week. Emi Buendia (ankle), Moritz Leitner (ankle) and Jamal Lewis (hamstring) are all out with injury, while Carlton Morris could be in contention after recovering from a knee injury. Louis Thompson is also out with a dislocated shoulder.

West Brom vs Norwich Preview: Recent Meetings

These two sides have played each other on 63 previous occasions in their history. West Brom have won 27 of those matches, and Norwich have emerged victorious in 21. There have been 15 draws. In 2015/16, the two sides faced each other in the Premier League, but both have been relegated from the top flight since then.

The most recent meeting between the two sides came earlier this season, in the Championship. Fans were treated to a seven-goal thriller on August 11 at Carrow Road. The Baggies eventually emerged as 4-3 winners, after a see-saw game in which Norwich took an early lead thanks to a Jordan Rhodes goal. Albion went into a 3-1 lead in the second half, with Jay Rodriguez bagging a brace of goals. City made it 3-2 and then 4-3 so that Albion could never settle and comfortably hold onto the win.

West Brom vs Norwich Prediction: Narrow Home Win

If you’re looking for West Brom vs Norwich betting tips for today, then our prediction is that Albion will win the game 2-1. We suspect that the fans are in for an entertaining afternoon, especially given the action that the previous encounter between these two sides produced. In the end, we suspect that home advantage may be key to how this game turns out. Norwich are unbeaten in 11 away league matches, but we suspect that the recent winless run will have sapped the Canaries’ confidence. It will be a hard-fought and entertaining game, but the Baggies will be the victors in the end.
